Meet The Team
Climbwired Team - Stuart Johnston Stuart Johnston is co-author of two climbing publications “The Mountain Skills Training Handbook” now available in a fully revised second edition, and “The Hillwalkers Guide to Mountaineering”. He is a full member of the Association of Mountaineering Instructors and holds the UK’s highest mountaineering award the Mountaineering Instructor Certificate (MIC). His current voluntary posts include team leader for Tayside Mountain Rescue. He is a qualified wilderness emergency medical technician and instructor.
Stuart has been involved with outdoor education since 1987 and he now runs and owns two companies: climbmts which is an outdoor training and education company and climbwired which designs and builds adventure parks.
Stuart has been involved with the innovative design of rope course adventure parks since 1987 and he regularly consults many outdoor, private and government sector agencies in adventure education and safety management.
Stuart is a regular contributor to TRAIL magazine and still does what he enjoys most: climbing.
Climbwired Team - Ewan Matthews Ewen Matthew was, until recently, head of one of Scotland’s most successful special needs schools. He was a member of the national working party responsible for writing Scotland’s national care standards, and was invoved in the group that wrote a staff development guide to support the evaluation of quality across care and education. He is a teacher, counsellor, and outdoor practitioner who is nationally and internationally qualified in a number of outdoor activities. He is currently an independent consultant in education, social work, and residential education. Ewen specialises in the development of outdoor education, combining theory with practice. He has delivered a number of workshops in outdoor learning and has helped a number of schools develop their delivery of outdoor education. He is currently working on a number of outdoor learning projects that link in with ‘curriculum for excellence’.
Climbwired Team - Mark Williamson Mark Williamson owns Montville Joinery and Shopfitting, which offers retail design and fit-out services with a specialism in the outdoor and cycle trade. Mark has completed shop renovations across the UK, and in particular has worked closely with Tiso and Alpine Bikes in refitting many of their stores.
Mark qualified 15 years ago as a cabinet-maker before making a career in shopfitting and is proud to combine his skills as a craftsman with his passion for the outdoors. He races both downhill and cyclocross bikes, rides a mountain and a road bike, and also takes to the hills by foot whenever he can. A born and bred Australian, Mark has now settled in Perthshire with his young family.
